Formerly the Gold Coast, Ghana occupies the pinnacle spot in Pan-African history having hit the torch for African Emancipation. The world heritage sites Elmina Castle and Cape Coast Castle are among the European castles and fortifications used as dungeons for the millions of slaves most of whom lost their lives or whose descendants compose the African Diaspora today.
Ghana is rich in natural heritage. One of such is The Kakum National Park, a lush protected rain forest habitat for 40 species of large mammals and birds. A tourist attraction is the Canopy Walk, the only one in Africa and one of four in the world. A wooden and rope footbridge, the canopy walk is 340m long and up to 40m in height, a breathtaking experience!
There are many exquisite beaches and hotels in Ghana. Indeed, Ghana is the perfect destination for a peaceful retreat
